  • Has a wing named after him at Western Oval & Etihad Stadium 
  • Vice Captain for the Footscray Team of Century 
  • He played his final year at Fitzroy believing he had another year left in him, he proved himself correct playing 21 of 22 games, picking up 6 brownlow votes at the age of 35. 
  • AFL Hall of Fame inductee 2004 
  • 2010 Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame

His loveable Larrikin Personality made him a natural and public favourite with him being picked up by the original Footy Show on Channel 9 after he retired from football. Doug was then courted to Channel 7 to launch the new program Live & Kicking. Some of his more recent work includes:

 Doug Hawkins is now an accomplished public speaker, spending many hours on the road entertaining corporate crowds and sports fans all over Australia. He often tours with other sporting legends including Merv Hughes, Dean Jones, John Platten and Kerry O’Keefe.
