Pommy Johnson is an Australian comedy Legend, having graced the stage for over 25 years.
Cutting his teeth at the famous Espy Hotel in St Kilda with the JimeOin's, Bob Franklin's and Elliot Goblet's of the Australian Comedy industry , it wasn't long before Pommy became one of Australia's first professional Stand Up Comedians, travelling the countryside performing at Comedy, Sporting and Social Clubs, and of course the odd Corporate event.
Pom's big break came in the 90's on the family favourite TV show Hey Hey It's Saturday where he performed his now infamous Psycho Chicken song with a rubber glove on his head. Psycho Chicken is still a hit for crowds to this day and is complimented by his hilarious routines about relationships, growing up in the country and grandfathers.
Pommy left Australian shores for three years in the mid 2000's where he set British crowds alight with his unique style of comedy. He performed at many major comedy clubs in England, Ireland and Scotland and he would have stayed if it wasn't for the weather.
The name Pommy Johnson is firmly entrenched in Australian Comedy folklore, he will forever be remembered as a stalwart of Australian comedy and a promoter of up and coming talent, he was dually rewarded for his contribution to the industry in 2002, when he took out the Australian Comedian Of The Year Award.
